1 Corinthians 14:40 KJV
Doctrinal Statement
I. Theology & The Godhead
- The Trinity: Belief in one God existing in three distinct, eternal persons (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), each with their own body, intellect, and will. Rejection of partialism, polytheism, and oneness.
- Scripture: Genesis 1:26-27, John 1:1-3, Colossians 2:9, 1 John 5:7
- The Deity of Christ: Jesus is God in the flesh; completely God and completely man.
- Scripture: 1 Timothy 3:16, 1 John 3:16, 1 John 5:20
- The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is a person with a body, will, and intellect, not merely a force or energy.
- Scripture: John 15:26, Acts 5:3-4, Romans 8:11, Ephesians 4:30
- The Virgin Birth: Jesus was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of Mary. Though the Catholic Church teaches she was perpetually a virgin, the Bible teaches that Mary had other children with her spouse Joseph after Jesus was born.
- Scripture: Matthew 1:23, Matthew 13:55-56
II. Salvation
- Salvation by Grace: Salvation is by grace through faith alone, not of works (such as baptism or church attendance). It is received by calling upon the Lord.
- Scripture: Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 10:13
- Eternal Security: Once a person is saved, they are always saved and cannot lose their salvation.
- Scripture: John 5:24, John 10:27-29, Ephesians 1:13
- Universal Provision: We reject Calvinism (TULIP) and believe that God desires everyone to be saved.
- Scripture: 1 Timothy 4:10, Titus 2:11, 1 John 2:2
- The Eternal State: Belief in a literal, physical Hell and Lake of Fire for the unsaved. Rejection of annihilationism or hell as “mere separation.”
- Scripture: Mark 9:43-48, Luke 16:22-24, Revelation 14:10, 20:10, 20:14-15
III. Bibliology & Scripture
- The King James Bible: Belief that the KJV is the inspired and preserved Word of God for English-speaking people. Rejection of all modern translations.
- Scripture: Psalm 12:6-7, Psalm 119:89, Matthew 24:35, 1 Peter 1:23
- Final Authority: The Bible is the final authority on all matters; anything taught in the KJV is believed.
- Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16
IV. The Church
- The Local Church: Belief in the local assembly of believers as the only biblical model; rejection of the “universal church” concept.
- Scripture: Matthew 28:18-20, Ephesians 4:16, Titus 1:5
- Autonomy: The local church is independent of denominations. Jesus is the head, and the pastor is the human leader. Rejection of Popes, Boards, or external Presidents.
- Scripture: Acts 14:23, Acts 20:28, 1 Peter 5:1-3
- Baptism: An act of obedience and a symbolic picture of Christ’s death and resurrection; not required for salvation.
- Scripture: Acts 8:36-38, Acts 16:30-31, Romans 6:3-5
- Membership & Discipline: Membership is a privilege. The church practices discipline and may remove or bar individuals who violate scriptural qualifications.
- Scripture: Matthew 18:15-18, 1 Corinthians 5:9-13
V. End Times
- The Rapture: Belief in a Post-Tribulation, Pre-Wrath Rapture. Rejection of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture.
- Scripture: Matthew 24:29-31, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3
VI. Separation & Social Issues
- Sanctity of Life: Abortion is murder; opposition to birth control that ends life after fertilization.
- Scripture: Genesis 1:28, Jeremiah 1:5
- Sexual Morality: Sodomy (homosexuality) is an abomination. It is a sign of someone who is a reprobate and has been rejected by God and no longer has the ability to be saved. They are not welcome in our local church.
- Scripture: Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:32
- Holy Living: Opposition to worldliness and the Charismatic/Ecumenical movements; commitment to a separated life.
- Scripture: James 4:4, 1 John 2:15-16
- Non-dispensationalism: Rejection of dispensationalist theology.
- Scripture: Matthew 5:17-18, 2 Timothy 3:16
